personal change coach coaching

"You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water."

Rabindranath Tagore

Are you ready for change?

In my coaching work I apply the so called Trans-Theoretical Model of Change, TTMC, that was developed by Prochaska, Norcross and Di Clemente all professors for psychology working at different US-American Universities in the 90's. They did research on individuals change processes and found out that change and transition in general is a 5 step process which needs different interventions in order to support people to go through this change and transitional phases.

The 5 steps of change and transition

Prochaska, Norcross and Di Clemente distinguish
1. Precontemplation
2. Contemplation
3. Preparation
4. Action
5. Maintenance

The first three stages are defined as the experimental process of change, where a person incorporates cognitive, evaluative and affective aspects of change.
The latter stages are defined by more specific observable change strategies and behavioral change processes.
The following test might help you to find out, where you are right now in your individual change process and define in which way a personal coach can support you in this process.

The following choice BEST describes me right now:

I recently observed, that people who are closely related to me (partner, children, friends or colleagues at work) suggest and advise that I should make changes in different areas of my life.

I have made a major change recently and realize that every-day life already has changed for me as well. But sometimes I am afraid of failure, relapses or having future fears.

I am thinking more often about the change(s), which I want to make in my life. I am daydreaming and fantasizing how such a change would impact my everyday life, my relationships, my career and my future.

I feel I have to do something now. I already implemented some small changes in my everyday life, and somehow feel encouraged by it.

I feel torn between the things of my recent life, which I want to preserve, and the things, which I would probably like to change.
